Introducing the New Structure
Starting from the 2025/26 season, Lincoln Basketball will move to a home-and-away league format.
This change means:
Teams will host games at their own venues.
Away fixtures will bring a true "on the road" experience.
More teams across Lincolnshire can join and compete.
Local communities will have more opportunities to support their teams.
The Central Venue League has been the perfect starting point, but demand has outgrown the format.
This new structure keeps the spirit of competition alive while opening the door to even greater growth across the county.
Playoffs will continue at the end of each season — keeping one of Lincoln Basketball’s best traditions firmly in place.
Thursdays at the Centre: Expanding, Not Ending
Thursday nights aren’t disappearing.
They’re growing.
Our central venue will continue to host weekly sessions, offering:
Selected league fixtures
Women’s-only basketball nights
3x3 basketball sessions
Youth coaching programmes
Open scrimmage/session nights for all levels
Plus — a New Lincoln Basketball Cup Tournament
A brand new Lincoln Basketball Cup will also be introduced, played on Thursday nights.
Teams will be split into groups for the initial stage.
Each team will play against others in their group.
Top teams will advance to knockout playoffs.
The competition will culminate in a final showdown at the end of the tournament.
This new tournament format offers another exciting way for players to compete, develop, and experience high-level basketball within the Lincoln Basketball community.
More Than a League
Our mission isn’t just to run matches — it’s to make basketball accessible for everyone.
That’s why we’re expanding into:
Different formats of play
Programmes specifically for women and girls
Youth training pathways
Casual, social basketball opportunities
Whatever your reason for stepping onto the court, there’s a place for you here.
Strengthening the Future
Basketball doesn’t run without the people behind the scenes.
We are committed to developing new coaches, referees, officials, team managers, and volunteers.
Lincoln Basketball offers clear routes into coaching, officiating, and team management — supporting personal growth, leadership skills, and career development in sport.
If you love the game, there’s a role for you to play.
